The Student Home Program Lead will be the team lead for the Student Home Workers in the Thunder Bay area and manage the KOBE Boarding Home Program. This individual must be sensitive to First Nations culture and traditions and must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Post-secondary education or training in Social Work, Education, or related field
- Experience in Social Work, Education, Off-Reserve Secondary Student Services, or trauma/crisis response is an asset
- Experience working with First Nations and knowledge of their history and traditions
- Knowledge of child development, including physical, emotional, and developmental patterns
- Ability to speak a local dialect is an asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day communication, support, and guidance to Student Home Workers, ensuring compliance with training, tasks, and operating procedures
- Facilitate life skills programming for students (e.g., cooking, budgeting, conflict resolution, self-care) and monitor their mental, physical, and emotional well-being
- Collaborate closely with Student Services staff, management, and external service agencies; develop protocols and maintain strong partnerships
- Oversee the Boarding Home program, including recruitment, training, orientation, and support for Boarding Home parents; conduct visits, pair students, and hold regular meetings
- Manage student-related logistics such as transportation, activities, and reporting, while keeping parents informed of arrangements and progress
- Document daily activities, prepare reports, and provide updates to KOBE management as required
- Participate in student activities, liaise with communities, and remain flexible to support emergencies, after-hours needs, and travel to KO communities
- Handle additional duties as assigned

- Values collaboration between student service providers and parents as partners in student success
Work Requirements
- Valid Class “G” Driver’s License
- First Aid with CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Vulnerable Sector Check required (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to use computer programs and prepare reports
- Willing to work beyond regular hours for student activities or emergencies
