The successful candidate will be part of a team that will oversee the KOBE Special Education Program. The Special Education Resource Teacher is required to perform a range of duties including but not limited to planning, developing, delivering and evaluating appropriate individualized educational services for students with special education needs and to support KO First Nation school teachers including Special Education Resource Teachers.
Qualifications:
- OCT qualified teacher
- University degree in Special Education or S.E.R.T. certified
- Experience in supporting a school special education program
- Experience in diagnosing and assessing learning disorders
- Proven effective classroom and student behavior management skills
- Knowledge of current special education practices and methodologies
- Knowledge and understanding of Provincial, local, and federal regulations and policies affecting special education
- Familiarity with Ministry of Education documents (e.g., Growing Success)
- Working knowledge of educational technology applications
- Strong technology skills
- Ability to travel extensively to remote fly-in First Nations throughout the school year
Salary range: $53,610 – $120,369 based on education and experience.
