On-Call Worker
Location: Thunder Bay
Salary Range $20.80 – $32.00 Hourly based on qualifications and experience
The On-Call Worker is required to perform a range of duties under the supervision of the KOBE On-Call Worker Lead, Student Support Lead, Student Services Manager and Assistant Manager.
Qualifications:
- Ability to speak one of the local dialects is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills with proficiency in developing written communications
- Valid Class G Driver’s License
- Must be willing to provide a vulnerable sector check
- Ability work effectively with others and independently
Key Responsibilities:
- Be available to support students after school hours and during emergencies
- Transport students to appointments, activities, and school-related events
- De-escalate tense situations and provide emotional support
- Offer referrals and connect students with staff or Elders as needed
- Maintain constant communication with colleagues and boarding home parents
- Complete nightly curfew checks and monitor known “hot spots”
- Provide daily, clear, and concise written reports; report urgent safety issues immediately
- Support boarding home parents, including enforcing student groundings when required
- Clean and maintain the on-call vehicle
- Ensure the on-call phone is functional 24/7 and respond to calls or texts promptly
- Remain available to assist outside regular hours during emergencies
