Keewaytinook Okimakanak, which means Northern Chiefs in Oji-Cree, is a non-political Chiefs Council serving Fort Severn, Keewaywin, Deer Lake, North Spirit Lake, Poplar Hill, and McDowell Lake First Nations. Keewaytinook Okimakanak Board of Education (KOBE) is mandated by the leadership of those communities to coordinate their educational programming.

KOBE supports the schools, their teachers and the students of the KO communities. The purpose of KOBE is to guide the next generations and give them the tools they need to not only succeed but to flourish.
The Corporate Services Division at KOBE encompasses several vital departments, each playing a distinct role in supporting and advancing the organization’s mission.
We understand that each student’s journey is unique, and our team provides tailored support to ensure their success. From academic assistance to personal development guidance, we stand by our students every step of the way.
The Student and Academic Support Services team administer off-reserve secondary education and support services for students from the six KO communities.
KiHS is an asynchronous online high school serving First Nation communities in Northern Ontario. In line with KOBE’s mandate, KiHS supports the six KO communities.
The Honouring Our Stories project initiative was formulated to gain better insight and understanding of the culture and knowledge base of First Nations people for education.
